Music in the park: Mohamed Assani

Sounds of Summer at Fleetwood Gardens August 6

Mohamed Assani on Sitar at Fleetwood Gardens August 6, 2014

This last outdoor concert in the City of Surrey's 2014 "Sounds of Summer" series was Wednesday, August 6. It wasn't on the original brochure, but a concert in July had been rained out.

Mohamed Assani, on the sitar, played a selection of Indian classical and folk tunes starting at 6:30 pm.

The weather was perfect: warm, but cooler than it had been during the day. The setting was exquisite. Fleetwood Gardens is one of about eight or nine more formal-style gardens in Surrey. Most are in existing parks, and Fleetwood Gardens is one of those. There is an incredible wisteria arcade and a labyrinth.

Introduction

Info on South of the Fraser River: Surrey, Delta, White Rock, City of Langley, Township of Langley, Fort Langley. Maybe a bit of Abbotsford, just for fun.

This site is experimental. See About (top right) for more, or Blog for meta-information. The working goal is to create an almanac of items, tidbits of information and methods of gathering information.

Right now the site is biased to just south of the Fraser River, within the northern reaches of great City of Surrey, but there is some foraging further afield.
