Gardenfest 2012

There's something of a predictable pattern to these sorts of events: a row or two of organizations' tents, staffs eagerly looking for interested people, and -- if you're lucky -- some sort of refreshment.

Gardenfest was lucky: the North Surrey Lions were there whipping together breakfast sandwiches.

There was also a booth for making vegetable vehicles. My mother would disapprove, you're not supposed to play with your food. I felt jealous, but didn't have a small child to give me an excuse to build something, so I missed the opportunity to race a parsnip with zuchini wheels.

The City of Surrey also had plants for sale and a number of workshops, which I had to miss, but were undoubtedly interesting.

Almost ready - tents being set up for Gardenfest

Gardenfest was April 14, from 9-3 pm at the Surrey Nature Centre. That's on the Western edge of Green Timbers park. Here's the text from the City of Surrey's website:

Info on South of the Fraser River: Surrey, Delta, White Rock, City of Langley, Township of Langley, Fort Langley. Maybe a bit of Abbotsford, just for fun.

This site is experimental. See About (top right) for more, or Blog for meta-information. The working goal is to create an almanac of items, tidbits of information and methods of gathering information.

Right now the site is biased to just south of the Fraser River, within the northern reaches of great City of Surrey, but there is some foraging further afield.
