Vaisakhi parade 2013

These are the guys you want organizing community events.

Here's the link to twitter posts that day: most were about Vaisakhi, food, and who showed up (a bit of electioneering).

Here are a few pictures I managed to take before getting overwhelmed by the crowds.

Hockey night: Langley Rivermen vs Chilliwack Chiefs

Jack and I trundled out in the rain to the Langley Event Centre Friday, March 1, 2013 to see the Langley Rivermen play the Chilliwack Chiefs.

It's the BCHL. The players must be about 18-20 or so. They're that age where if they could grow a beard they did.

The long line-up. In the rain.

The line-up to buy tickets was long. And it was raining from the Pineapple Express. It turns out that there was a high-school basketball tournament also happening.

Another line-up - but this one was moving pretty fast

Green wall at Guildford Town Centre

What's odd about this picture?

Green wall at Guildford Town Centre

Normally we see plants growing up on the outside of a building.

Celebration is the name of this green wall at Guildford Town Centre, created by Green Over Grey Living Walls and Design.

The display covers 1380 sq ft, and contains over 8,000 individual plants in 59 species.

There's another green wall at the Semiahmoo library (on the outside of the building), and in other locations around the Lower Mainland.

Info on South of the Fraser River: Surrey, Delta, White Rock, City of Langley, Township of Langley, Fort Langley. Maybe a bit of Abbotsford, just for fun.

This site is experimental. See About (top right) for more, or Blog for meta-information. The working goal is to create an almanac of items, tidbits of information and methods of gathering information.

Right now the site is biased to just south of the Fraser River, within the northern reaches of great City of Surrey, but there is some foraging further afield.
